EATING FOR ABUNDANT LIFE

We know how important calcium is to the body but how much do we need?  Studies show that need changes as we age.

Children 1- 3 years old need 500 mg of calcium a day.  Children 4 – 8 years old require 800 mg a day.

What is surprising is adolescents and teens need 1300 mg a day to keep up with their increased growth rate and the changes in their body composition.

Adults 19-50 years need 1000 mg a day.  After age 50, adults need 1200 mg a day to keep bones strong and healthy and to prevent fractures.

Cheese is a healthy way to get your servings of calcium.  Remember to check the nutrition label to make sure the cheese you eat contains a lot of calcium.  Many do not.

Gordo’s Queso Blanco Easy Melt is real American Cheese with lots of calcium.  A one ounce serving meets 15% of an adult’s required serving per day.  So add slices of cheese to your sandwiches and burgers.  Add grated cheese to your salads, soups, main dishes and side dishes.  Cheese is delicious on just about everything.  Eat some today – your body will thank you!
