Have you tried the latest diet? Chances are you have and chances are you have failed! If you need to lose weight and get healthy, a diet is not for you. Diets may work for a short time, like right before your class reunion. Studies show that lifetime changes are needed to lose weight and keep it off.
One lifetime change you should consider is eating more fruit and vegetables. Not only do they provide a variety of vitamins and nutrients our bodies need to stay healthy, they also are high in fiber which will keep us satisfied. The National Cancer Institute, American Heart Association and the US Food and Drug Administration suggests you eat 5-9 servings of fruit and vegetables per day for a healthy, disease free body.
You should start with a little planning. An apple or banana in your bag means you don’t have to stop in the drive through for a snack. Replace chips in your lunch with carrot sticks or sliced cucumbers, tomatoes or green pepper. Stock you freezer with frozen vegetables and serve with tonight’s dinner. Corn, broccoli, beans, peas or carrots. Add grapes to your grocery list, wash them as soon as you get home from the store and enjoy them tonight as you watch television.
The change will be worth it. Your body will be healthier. You will soon crave fruit and vegetables instead of the foods high in fat and sugar you previously craved. Why not get started today?
